My First Teaching Position

Posted on August 2, 2007. Filed under: New Job |

After having gone through many atrocious experiences that go into landing a teaching position, I finally have a position.  On July 12, 2007, I was hired as the first ever 7th grade science teacher at an elementary school in Brooklyn, NY, which has been looking into expanding into a K-8 school by the order of the City Department of Education (NYC DOE). Last year they added 6th grade, and excitingly this coming fall will be the debut of the 7th grade for the school. From now on, five teachers and I will be known in the school’s history as the team of teachers that jump started the 7th grade. It’s so EXCITING and NERVE WRECKING!

Stay tuned for more entries about me, my learning experiences, and interesting science material I come across this year.
